Natural Nail Prep for Gel Polish: Step-by-Step Cuticle Care Guide
Cuticle Pusher
so to start i'm using a cuticle pusher this one is from lp tools i think it's said like lucy pastorelli i think i'm saying that right um so i'm using hair tools so this is the cute cut pusher it's very similar to the navy pro tools that i know a lot of people have and really like um the biggest difference this comes in two days versus ten weeks so that's why i chose to get this one now it's super sharp so i'm just using it really gently to push that cuticle back that is just sitting on the nail plate you can see i have quite a lot my nails are particularly bad um but this just does an amazing job at just really pushing all of that back and so that it's easier for you to remove later on
Cuticle Knife
next i'm going in with the cuticle knife so one side is kind of this chiseled shape it's um it's so unbelievably very sharp which is why it's amazing um but it is really sharp so you do need to be really really careful with it use it correctly use it properly the other side's a bit more of like that traditional knife shape which is quite useful so i'm a big fan of the chisel side and i'm just kind of going in and up and down the side walls around the cuticle area and just i mean you can see straight away look at all that extra white flaky non-living tissue that's just being scraped off the nail using this is so unbelievably easy anyone can use it
Gentle Cuticle Prep
you do need to be really gentle just to make sure that you aren't putting any any any pressure onto the oil plate causing any kind of damage but just look at that oh my god it's just so satisfying i could just read this happen all day every day it's amazing so this is just gonna take it all off using this tool is going to have a massive part in the longevity of your nail services if you are a professional and you're offering it this just literally removes anything that will sit on the nail plate that may potentially cause lifting further down the line um it's amazing i can't rave about it anymore look how satisfying that is
Cuticle Nippers
um now i'm going in with my lacent day cuticle nippers love my lasante nippers they're amazing they're the best ones that i've used so far they just stay sharp for so so long they're amazing so many nippers i have for about a month and then i'm getting rid of because they just aren't sharp enough anymore they just they just don't work um but these are amazing so i'm just going in and nipping off all of that white flaky looking non-living tissue you can see exactly what needs removing when you've pushed them back so well with the lp tools um so i'm just going through and removing them really really gently it's really satisfying as well when they uh kind of all come off in just one one big strip i just love that um so i'm just going back looking at the nail seeing if there are any little bits that need nipping off so there is a little tiny bit there so i'm just going back in removing that part as well
Pear Drop Tool
now for a lot of people you can leave your prep here there is nothing wrong with that completely fine and going the extra step though so again i'm using this tool this is actually from lp tools as well but i know you can get lots of similar ones from ebay amazon willow is a really good brand as well but you can buy it so this is called the pear drop from lp tools it is a um i think it's medium i think blue is medium um and just look how much more it's pushing back it's just taken off all the extra little bits that are just still sitting there it's pushing it back and it is going in with these tools that is going to give you that really kind of pillowy nice looking cuticle area that people are obsessed with on instagram and it just looks amazing
Ball Bit
now i'm just finishing up with a ball bet so this is the ball in medium from willow love this bit it's amazing you can exfoliate the area surrounding the nail as well you can use it directly on the skin just to give it a little buff to exfoliate all of that away
Dual Tool
now i wanted to show you this bit it's not one i use all the time but it's kind of um a dual it's amazing so i'm going to use it on my nail on my thumbnail and this just kind of acts as cuticle pusher cuticle nipper cuticle knife and bulbet all in one it sounds ridiculous but it's amazing it kind of just does the entire job for you um you can see on this nail this nail's not particularly bad anyway i don't use it on everyone um i don't think it works on everyone especially if someone has got very very very hard cuticle i find that you do still need to push back and then you can go in with this bit but on someone who has not very much like i did on my thumbnail look at that it just does the job for you amazing um very very good for saving time especially if you are on kind of very tight sound timings
Filing and Buffing
so now i'm going in with my lasente file this is the 180 240 i'm just using it on the 240 just sped it up like crazy because you guys don't need to see me file each and every single nail because that would just be incredibly boring and then i'm going in and just buffing the top i am going to be applying some gel so i'm going to be using the p plus um gel polish range from light elegance um so i'm just prepping my nails for that really so i'm giving it really light buff it always looks like you're being particularly rough when you read it in in the sped up sped up timing um but it's not you're very very gentle very very light
Cleansing and Base Coat
so cleanse the nail plate and i'm going in with the qd base it's amazing what i do find with p plus gel polishes is they are particularly runny and i find that i get the best results by doing one nail at a time so i will paint a nail and then i will put it in the lamp for a couple of seconds just so that it dries and then i will go to the next nail paint it in the lamp next nail paint it in the lamp and i do just find that that is how i get the best results with it you can apply it just that little bit thicker and it won't run anywhere then because it is a particularly runny um polish but once it's done it is amazing it lasts a really long time i do find that it adds a really really really good amount of strength for a gel polish
Applying the Gel Polish
so next i'm going in and i'm painting them i'm just using traditions which is one of the p-plus colors that came when they first launched they kind of launched with a collection i can't remember how many it was that was 24 maybe something like that um and this was one of the exclusive shades that i came with and i absolutely adore it it's kind of a i just don't even know how to describe it it's like a purpley gray beige and but it's lovely it's wonderful um i go in with two coats of this and two coats is kind of really enough i did lose the footage for the rest of it so unfortunately this is all that you will see but i have got a picture of the finished results but i thought you know i'm still gonna upload the article because it's been so blinking long since i last uploaded a article um i'm just gonna upload it anyway
One Nail at a Time
so i'm just painting all the nails again working one nail at a time even with the color coats the top coat is a little bit thicker so i do find that you can apply that across all five nails and then just curette
